exterior work where the Rustic Terrazzo will be exposed to freezing condtions, it is recommended that a dense chip be used, and that the matrix contain a suitable air entraining agent.

CONDUCTIVE MATRIX TERRAZZO

This Terrazzo flooring system will conduct eletricity within prescribed resistance levels.  It eliminates the buildup of static electricity and is therefore a safe floor for use in areas subject to explosive hazards.  Chip sizes should not exceed a #1 chip and the matrix color is black, since carbon black is used as the conductive vehicle in the floor.  Marble chip density requirement is 60% or less to allow the matrix to surround each piece of aggregate used in this system.

PAPER SAMPLES

Slight color variations in chips and matrices can be anticipaed due to the limitations of printers ink.  Therefore, it is recommended that these plates be used only for preliminary selection and that the actual physical samples be obained from the Terrazzo Contractor for final color approval.

CUSTOM DESIGNS

Custom designs, based on guidelines for color matrices and given the use of chips other than those illustrated here, can be formulated to your own specifications.  Suitable marbles for use in Palladiana are somewhat limited and it is recommended that you check with a local contractor, as listed in the National Terrazzo & Mosaic Association's membership roster.

COST FACTORS

The following factors affect the price of Terrazzo installations.  It is, however, recommended that a reliable local contractor be consulted for exact figures.  See NTMA's Contractor and Supplier list in this book.
